Our Monday night trip to IKEA OR I hate the Keystone State I mentioned before that Darryl and I have been working on our middle bedroom. We assembled one whole wall of IKEA cabinets, and they're pretty awesome, I have to admit. However, there are so many options, that apparently even the IKEA salespeople have trouble sorting it all out. The cabinets we got come in two heights, and one of them was too tall for our house. (As an aside, if our 120-year-old house doesn't have high enough ceilings to accomodate these cabinets, WHO DOES?!) We bought six shorter (6' 6") cabinets. Next, we chose drawers. 2 or 4 per cabinet? Well, we picked 4. The saleslady sold us 4. The shipping guy packed up 4. Only, you can't have 4 drawers per cabinet, because IKEA doesn't make short enough doors for the upper half. Think that's confusing? That's not the half of it, but I'll spare you the rest of the insane details. If any of you decide to shop at IKEA for say, more than a couple of wineglasses and a set of tongs, I really suggest using their "How To Make The Most Of Your Trip To IKEA" page. Yikes. Anyway, when it was all said and done, we had bought $100 worth of extra drawers, which we had to return, so we made a lightning-fast trip last night. We printed the directions off the IKEA website. The directions were wrong. There is no exit #10 off of I-80 near Pittsburgh. We almost ran out of gas in the middle of farm country. Where do farmers buy gas?! So. I love IKEA. But I hate Pennsylvania. No word on when IKEA will open a little closer to home. However, the Plain Dealer had an article today about how the president of IKEA denies that he has passed Bill Gates to be the richest man in the world. Well, maybe our return of drawers bumped him back down. It would serve him right. For giving us bad directions. Or something. You think you're fancy? Just wait until you see THIS Been hunting for a lil som'n-som'n to accent that shiny new belt? Look no further!
I got just what you need.
