Well, Gooooooolly. The blog has been read over 700 times. Probably 500 times by me. :) Summer weather has clearly arrived everywhere, because all the cousins are out doing fun summer things instead of posting, and I can't blame ANY of you. Summer semester is almost done for me; two more weeks and I'm free. Unfortunately, fall's internship has begun to make demands on my time, but I can't imagine that would last all summer. So, last weekend, I was talking to my mom who mentioned that Sunday was Father's Day. Without really giving it a second thought, (I mean, we knew it was coming in June, right?) Darryl and I started trying to drum up ideas for gifts. If there are 2 men on the planet harder to buy for than our Dads, we don't know them. Finally on Friday, we settle on what to buy, wrangle up some cards, and wrapping paper, and set the wheels in motion. Sunday afternoon arrives, and we head over to Mom and Dad's house for the first visit. We knock on the door, and my mom, looking sleepy and urgent at the same time, says in a stage whisper, "IT'S NOT TODAY!!" in the same tone that one would expect to hear, "CODE RED! CODE RED! BLACK HAWK DOWN! I REPEAT, BLACK HAWK DOWN!!" I think it's no big deal; now we just have an extra week to rethink our gifts. My mom stops trying to usher us out the door and instead points at the calendar, showing us we were wrong. I tell her it's really ok, and she says, "Chrissy had to show me this calendar this morning!" Anyway, my dad wasn't even home. So, don't any of you forget: Father's Day is THIS SUNDAY. Don't let any moms muddy the waters with talk of calendars and commercials and whatnot. :)
