Housekeeping
Man, there are so many things I keep meaning to do, and yet...
First, the bad news: I have yet to take ghetto lawn pictures. I know you all MUST be disappointed. Seriously, if you could only see my neighborhood. However, my neighbors are all (with one noteable exception) really awesome, and I haven't figured out how to photograph the ghetto-licious lawns without having to say something like "I'm making a post on the internet of really hideous, non-maintained lawns! Yours will be featured!"
The semi-good news is that I have packaged up Laurie's winnings!! But, that's as far as it got. There's still the post office, postage and actual mailing steps. (Ok, that's probably one, but if I make it 3, it doesn't seem so bad that it will probably take me another 2 weeks to get it done. (Say, Laurie, since you'll be home soon, maybe you should just pick it up! But no leaving it here. ))
The awesome news is as follows:
1. I altered the comments! No more waiting for crap to load forEVER. To see the comments, click on the link, like always, and they'll just drop down. If you click the link again, they'll fold back up. MUCH. FASTER.
2. Here are the scans of Susan's news paper article! I'm sorry they're sideways. But I'm sick of buzznet, it's annoying me with it's slowness. And I have to beg Darryl to upload pictures from me from his PC. NOT that I'm saying the PC is better... But anyway, since they're posted with Hello, you can download them and rotate them your darned self. ;)
![]() ![]() ![]() 3. Here is the picture of men on my neighbor's roof, as viewed through my bathroom window. I'm pretty sure they saw me taking these. When I left to go to class later, this one guy stopped working and kind of pointed at me. But whatever, I'll never see them again. Unless maybe they stumble across their photo on the internet. They DO know where I live, I guess. ![]() Alrighty. That's it from me tonight. Except that I'm glad to see Karen back!! Were you on a trip?
Comments:
I'm back! Not on a trip, just lazy and these allergies are KILLING me. The weird thing is I never had allergies before, and now I'm worse than anyone around me. People say it is from being pregnant ... it does weird things to you. Anyway, this pollen should clear up by the first week in May, hopefully.
Corsets. So many remarks come to my mind in response that I'm not sure where to begin. They're all jumbled at the moment. Helicopter swing? What? That sounds way too cool. The best thing we had as kids was the fire engine pedal cart Aunt Joyce bought for Shane when he was little. We loved that thing.
Oh, the Nicolli's had one of those fire-engine pedal carts! With a bell! We loved that, too.
The swing was just a baby swing, but shaped like a helicopter, with a yellow plastic propellor on the front. It was sweet. I'm sure they still make them. Allergies are so weird. I never had any, either, but suddenly in the last few months, I have a real problem being around cats. My eyes go bonkers! Good thing Darryl didn't let me talk him into getting a kitten last summer!
I'm not sure which version of Windows Darryl is running and I'm not sure if you have an SMB workgroup set up to share files between the Mac and Windows, but I thought of a way for you to use Darryl's PC to do small things like upload pictures to Hello.
1: Share a drive on the Windows machine and copy your pictures to it from the Macintosh(Finder>Go>Network). 2: Download and install Microsoft's RDC client for Macintosh 3: Enable Terminal Services for Remote Administration on the Windows machine. 4: Log into the Windows machine using the RDC client on the Mac and upload your files! This might not work - but it's a LOT easier than VirtualPC, assuming Darryl has an OS that supports some form of RDC/Term Services.
I'm definitely going to make him read that.
I've completely ruled out VirtualPC because it uses a lot of memory... And from what I can tell it makes a lot of applications useless. I really hope that my understanding of that process is right: does that mean I can commandeer his PC from my MAC? Because THAT would rule.
That's exactly what it will do. It's very nice because it creates your desktop session in the background so you and Darryl can do two different things on the same computer at the same time. (e.g. Darryl doesn't have to log off, or stop moving the mouse, or even know you are uploading pictures) If you have your own user account on Darryl's PC you'll even get a customized desktop with your own icons and folders.
You can do the same thing, although perhaps not as nicely, with a program called VNC.
Holy cow, that's AWESOME, and solves all my picture posting problems. Thanks!!
