Okay people, ENOUGH ALREADY with the "old cousins" comments!!!! Jeez! I come on this site for some upbeat info and instead I am reminded that I am no longer 30, since I'm 31, I'm now "In my 30's". At least my husband will always be 4 years older than me.
Susan graduating college. I still remember when she stayed with us for a while when she and Kenny were both about 6 months old or so. I believe she and Kenny are only a few days apart in age. We have all these pictures of the two of them next to each other, and Susan stayed in my room (the only time we had another female staying with us, and thus the only time I had to share a room. I thought it was a treat at the time).
I changed that girl's diapers and now she's graduating college... I think I'm going to go partake in an alcoholic beverage.
Comments:
No kidding! And what makes Mike think he's a middle cousin? #5/17 makes him firmly in the top third. ;)
I remember walking Susan in her stroller (but only down to the bushes!) and she always fell asleep! Anyone else remember that red helicopter swing that she had that was in the back yard at Grandma's in the maple tree? I was so jealous of that swing. :)
Oh, and Karen? Feel free to stop over any time - I'll share my giant-sized bucket of freezer margaritas with you. :)
Old. Hmph.
You make a good point. I hadn't considered myself as 5 of 17. But I need to get a list of all my cousin's ages so we can build a proper distribution of cousins by age. I'm certainly near a cutoff of one peak (that contains chris, karen, emily, and shane) and another peak (that contains Keith, Laurie, and Brian). In the end I suppose I would be closer to Shane than to Keith though.
I could be wrong, (and frequently am!) but I think Shane is older than me. It's funny, because when I was little, I really wanted to be older. But now.. not so much.
Someone set me straight! (I think this because I seem to remember recently coming across a card of some kind (like a christening or congratulations on your baby card) with Chris, Karen AND Shane listed with Aunt Joan and Uncle Bruce.) (Although, maybe he was just born, and that shoots my theory to heck.)
Also, we should make a list of birthdates... Then we can keep track of everyone. Sometime, when I feel ambitious, maybe I'll add that to the sidebar. ;)
Shane will be the big 30 on August 13th!
Our birthdays are: Chris - April 23, 1972 Karen - March 13, 1974 Shane - August 13, 1975 Brian - December 26, 1979 Kenny - November 5, 1982 Five kids in 10 years, including having three under 3 in the beginning. Aunt Joan and Uncle Bruce are crazy.
Look at that! I thought for sure there was a larger gap between you and Shane. You're absolutely right though, your parents are crazy.
Is it a bad sign that after me, mine needed a 10 year break? I HAVE been blamed for my parents having to install air conditioning. Maybe my Dad was worried about what honey-dos my Mom would have the next time she was pregnant. Emily - January 24, 1976 Mike - September 4, 1977 Chris - July 6, 1987 We're getting close here. Who's next, Laurie? Suze?
Susan was born either right before or right after Kenny. I think it was right after. It's close ... I'm talking they are days apart in age.
I'm pretty sure Susie's birthday is within a day of Emily's. I want to say January 25th, but I'm usually wrong, so it's probably the 23rd.
Let's guess January 25, 1983 and maybe a representative from the Streble/Haboustak household will tell us if we're right. 1982 would make her 22 this year, which is just the right age to graduate college.
Susan's birthday is definitely Jan. 23 - and I'm not sure, but I feel like that was 1983. That makes her 4 years older than Chrissy, which seems right.
