Wednesday, April 06, 2005Yoder and Donkey
So, Chrissy is back from spring break, and I have heard that she saw *2* movies, and you know what that means! Forthcoming movie reviews! I can't wait! (No pressure, Chris. ;) )
The weather was so nice here today. Someone told me it was 74! I saw a bunch of people on campus wearing shorts and flip-flops, which was absolutely hilarious, because the wind off the lake is still SO COLD. I mean, it's only April.
But! It was so warm (and in fact, is STILL so warm) that I opened my windows today while I was working and I could hear all these birds and squirrels chirping and running. And the daffodils are blooming in the yard. I hope it's that nice everywhere.
The only story I have to tell involves my dog. For some reason, my dog has never really chewed things up. So when we buy him toys, we frequently get him toys meant for kids. That's usually a bad idea, because kid toys have eyes and buttons and little pieces of fabric that dogs could eat and make them get sick and die. But they're a lot cheaper than dog toys! So, we're taking our chances.
A couple of years ago, we were sorting through some boxes of old junk, and found a Scoobie Doo talking stuffed dog. And Yoder *loved* it immediately. So we let him have it. And for several months, Yoder and Scoobie were inseparable. Yoder would come running in a room and announce himself by dropping Scoobie on the floor to make Scoobie say, "Scoooobie Doooobie DOOOOOOO!" or "hhheeeehhheeeehhee!" (That's the goofy Scoobie laugh.)
But then one day, Scoobie's batteries died (frankly, to our relief). And although Yoder still likes Scoobie, he's been treated just like any other toy. Then Mom and Chris came back from vacation. With a new toy for Yoder.
{---- Yoder and Donkey.
It's a talking donkey. From Shrek. It might be the funniest thing I've ever seen. Yoder loves that donkey with a passion the likes of which we have never seen before. And donkey says so many things! Like (as we heard while in the kitchen, while Yoder played in the living room) "I can't feel my toes! ....wait! ...I don't have any toes!" Or (as heard while Yoder searched through his toy basket) "Pick me! Pick me!"
So that's what we're doing. Laughing at Donkey.
Comments:
I've never seen an actual picture of your dog ... just his tail in photos! What kind is it? How old?
Yeah, it's definitely weird.

Donkey was only like $3 (so I've been told) but most talking dog toys are about $10 (the ones I've seen, anyway). Plus, for some reason, dog toys never seem to really go on sale... I mean, I've never seen a clearance bin of them. But sometimes at the mall or department stores, they'll have a big bin of out-of-season stuffed toys. Obviously, Yoder doesn't care. :) |
